The Prince George

A Hackney institution beloved by generations of old and new residents alike, The Prince George is a traditional Victorian pub situated on a leafy residential street. Head Chef Troy Cundy, who was born and bred in Hackney and trained with Ottolenghi, has carefully designed a brand new creative menu to compliment the traditional and craft beers, wines and spirits on offer. Add to this a working fire in winter, a street facing beer garden in summer and a jukebox for showing off your extensive knowledge of Bowie B-sides and you have a rather impressive option for a Saturday afternoon hang out.

The Food

Under the guidance of Head Chef Troy Cundy we’ve turned The Prince George into a serious destination for foodies. This isn’t just your bog standard pub grub, we’ve mixed things up to produce hearty fare with an inventive twist. Our menu evolves with the seasons and has included dishes such as smoked haddock and kedgeree scotch egg, grilled onglet steak with beef dripping chips and beetroot and apple soup with sour cream and caramelised walnuts. Have a gander at our Christmas menu, offering up a duck liver parfait, wild mushroom and stilton wellington and a stuffed Norfolk bronze turkey crown with pork and chestnut – to name but a few dishes. If that doesn’t fill you up then you’ll be pleased to discover that we also offer a veritable feast of a festive dessert menu, which should appease even the most gluttonous of sweet tooth’s. Featuring dishes such as honeycomb and winter berry mess alongside a warm coffee and brandy chocolate cake with vanilla icecream and ginger nut crumble you’re spoilt for choice. Now get tucked in.
